Fasting Guidelines

We will participate in the normal fast from 6 pm on Monday until 6 pm on Tuesday based on Genesis 1:5. A normal fast means you will not eat solid food for the purpose of growing closer to God. Please follow these basic guidelines to help you as you fast.

  • Drink liquids. Distilled water is a good choice. You may add lemon or a little honey to hot or cold water.

  • Use lemon and breath mints for possible foul/bad breath.

  • Continue to take all medications as required by your physician.  If medication requires you to have food, follow the instructions. Eat only enough to take the medicine. Do the other parts of the fast such as reading the Bible and praying. If you are not sure if you can fast, ask your medical provider or pharmacist. Diabetic patients taking insulin, expectant mothers, or others with chronic conditions should not undertake this fast.

  • Spend time daily in Bible Study, reading, prayer, worship, and meditation.

  • Use the time you would spend on meals (shopping/cooking/eating) to seek God. Disconnect from your usual activities such as watching television (favorite shows), viewing social media and other leisure activities such as shopping or hanging out with friends. Use this time to pray, worship and hear from God.  Aim for 2 hours or more in a day.

  • Write down what you seek from God and what He speaks to you during the time of consecration.

  • As you end the fast, slowly add foods back into your diet. Start with small amounts of salads, fruits, and meats.

Prayers

Prayer for April 10, 2023

Father,

You have taught us that when we pray, we are to bring others’ needs with us to You.  Fasting is a form of intercession, and we want to be empowered by Your Spirit.  This fast will help us to minister to others and counteract the work of the enemy.  We therefore consecrate (separate) ourselves to You in prayer and fasting. Setting ourselves apart to seek You and Your will, rather than our own interests.  Use us to fulfill “Your Purposes” for “Your Glory”.  Father, through this time of fasting and prayer reveal yourself through your Word and Voice as we spend time reading, listening, and hearing You. We thank You even now for the exponential growth that shall take place in our lives from this day forward.  We pray in the name of Jesus, Your Son, who fasted and prayed not only for His disciples, but also for us who have believed in Him through our testimony.  Amen.

Prayer as You Begin Each Day of Fasting

Give thanks to our Lord:

  • For being our Lord, God, Creator and Sustainer of all.

  • For Loving mankind even in our fallen state, and not changing His mind concerning His Creation even after our disobedience.

  • For healing loved ones, friends, relatives, co-workers, and others who are experiencing mental, physical or emotional illness.  Pray for the divine manifestation of healing and wholeness every of their lives. Decree they are whole with nothing missing or lacking.

Pray for a greater outpouring of Holy Spirit in visions, dreams, and prophecy. Pray the Body of Christ will display the love and power of the Lord.

Pray for a greater infilling of Holy Spirit and limitless gifts of the Spirit including your heavenly language for the edifying of oneself.

Pray for continued guidance, wisdom, instruction, and direction for the leaders and kingdom citizens at Perfecting Saints Church and Perfecting Saints Ministries Int’l as well as other ministries called by Him.

Thank the Lord for the answer to prayers as well as His grace and strength to fast successfully without any issues.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known

to God." (Philippians 4:6)
